Description
Early Qing dynasty carved polychromed wooden statue. Possibly a Chinese Emperor; This seated figure is intricately painted in cobalt blue and oxblood reds as only a Emperor’s robe and hat would be. The figure is holding a Rui scepter in his right hand and a Stupa in his left hand. This is undoubtably a Taoist statue which predates Buddhism. Wonderful condition with older touch ups. This would make a rare and fantastic decorative statement on any alter or table.
