Description

Very large and original 18th century Classic Italian painting with all the Classic landscape scenes one would see with a Peruzzini masterpiece. The figures are Classic to Ricci as both painters were known to collaborate together in paintings. That is only the beginning to this story. The image represents a pyroclastic cloud which would be common to volcanic eruption torn Italy at the period of the painting. If my research is correct or I am lazy; this would be the only such painting of its kind for an 18th century Italian work of art. The figures seem to be fleeing and leading livestock to safer grounds. There are six figures, horses, cows, goats, sheep and a donkey represented in this painting. There are signatures and a date; however, they are not very legible and do not lead to a certain Peruzzini or Ricci match. The first signature starts with a definite “P” but is short and intelligible. The second word can be Brucci, Rucci or Ricci…The date could be 1712-1719-1714, A UV-3 test and photo provided shows the the signatures and date are original to the original painting. Peruzzini and Ricci signature are almost extinct in that none can be documented. You decide for yourself. Condition: The photo of the painting is beautiful and captures the masters brush strokes (it has not been photo shopped). The painting has been relined and restored professionally by The Conservation Guild in Dallas TX. All restoration can be reversed. All before and after photos with a Condition and Treatment Report will be provided with sale. The interesting story is that the painting survived a World War II bomb blast as Cordite was detected and treated in the restoration process. The painting will be sold unframed. The painting is very secure, strong, and ready to be framed and hung on your wall. Size: 34 1/4 inches tall by 48 1/2 inches wide.
