18th Century Tibetan Lotus Buddha Polychrome Wood and Iron Box

Category:

Out of stock

Description

A small and very charming Tibetan covered box constructed with metal straps and painted with thick polychrome paint. The decorative scroll designs culminate into a Buddha or wrathful deity with extended hands encircled by a Lotus flower in ox blood red, yellow, blue, black, white and orange. A very textured effect with thick paint and straps give wonderful warm energy. I have been using it mainly for a bronze Buddha stand which looks beautiful and right at home.

Length-Width: 6.5 inches
Height: 3 inches

Condition is excellent with minimal expected paint loss throughout. Single loose hinge creates a floating affect for the cover and seems to have worked well for over 200 years.
