This plate is from the famous set “Les Maitres de l’affiche”
The “Les Maitres de l’Affiche” series was offered as a subscription series to collectors. Every month for 60 months, from December 1895 through November 1900, subscribers received by mail, 4 loose sheets (Maitres) with a cover sheet.
Willette’s elegant vertical poster of a traditional Dutch girl in national dress presenting us with Van Houten’s cocoa (hot chocolate), set against a wonderful background of gilded leaves. It is both direct and effective in it’s design.
This is guaranteed to be an original Maitres De L’Affiche lithograph, and has the embossed seal of authenticity from the printer, Imprimerie Chaix, on the lower right corner.
