Description
Emile Gruppe (American, 1896-1978), oil on canvas board, circa 1940.
An absolutely amazing post-impressionist painting using knifing technique which is very rare for Gruppe. The painting shows shacks at low tide when the fishing boats are out with crab pots and seagulls flying around looking for scraps. Emile Gruppe turned out countless paintings so when you find an older and rare diamond like this one; it will not last long.
