Emile Gallé (Fr. 1846-1904) French, Art Nouveau, circa 1900
A rare and amazing Art Nouveau cameo wheel carved and acid etched cameo glass chandelier by Emile Gallé, considered to be one of the major forces in the Art Nouveau movement. The motif is of oak Leaves and fall foliage and the best of colors; red which at the time was made with gold alloys. This chandelier has a beautiful bronze canopy and fitted with 3 lights.
Measures: Diameter 14 inches (35.5 cm) Height 18 inches (45.7 cm)
Condition: Very good. Last photo shows a 1/8 rim chip completely ridden by fittings. One fitting screw is missing finial. Scratches commensurate of age and use. Electrified with European sockets that will require special bulbs.
