Description

This is a monumental Schist measuring 11 x 10 inches and constitutes an almost complete figure sculpture of Buddha in a squatting stance. Greystone or sandstone frieze with fine detail.
12th century, Cambodia. Angkor Wat Attributed.

Schist: 11 x 10 x 4.5 inches (28 x 25.5 x 11.5 cm)
With stand: 13.5 x 10 x 5.5 inches.

Provenance: From a Canadian auction selling the estate of a French gentleman who amassed a large collection of Gandhara, Buddhas and Khmer items throughout his life.
