Art Pottery made by the ‘Faienciere Heraldique de Pierrefonds’, a pottery established in 1903 by Olivier de Sorra, Count Hallez D’Arros, at Pierrefonds, a village in Picardy, south of Paris, at the foot of the famous Ducs d’Orléans castle. The firm’s mark is a heraldic stamp showing medieval helmet with visor flanked by ‘F’ for faienciere and ‘H’ for Heraldique, along with ‘Pierrefonds’ and the model number. They were famed for their blue and green colours, specialised in Art Nouveau ceramic forms and particularly known for crystalline and flambe glazes of superb quality, both exquisitely displayed on these pots. Of stoneware with bold, strong shapes, prominent handles and flaring lipped rim.
