Description
Pair of large Chinese Republic period hardstone jade mounted screans. Late Qing to Republic period 20th century heavy lacquered panels with carved ornate scrolling. Panels have intricate carved stones representing exotic birds (sparrows, swallows and either roosters or peacocks) beautifully perched on tree branches with foliage and flowers. Panel screans are reversible with hand-painted paintings of flowers, leaves and branches on verso of stone. Absolutely beautiful decorative pieces.

Condition: Wear indicative of age and use. Some losses of stone on birds and foliage. Dents and scratches throughout.
