Description
A rare and stunning Signed Paul Nicolas (While he owned and ran D’argental) cameo vase depicting red roses and leaves on a yellow background. It has been documented that Paul Nicolas made dedicated many of the personal vases he made to loved ones and family members. I have over 100 pieces of Galle and Daum art glass vases and this is among my favorite! Enjoy…
Dimensions: 5.5 inches diameter X 3.5 inches high.
Signed “P. Nicolas Nancy” in raised signature; indicates that he; Paul Nicolas, made this vase himself.
Paul Nicolas became a chief designer at Galle in 1895 when he was barely 20. He was clearly Emile Galle’s favored protege; going on to manage the St. Louis glass studios and founding D’Argental where he designed the majority of their vases yet signed only a limited number. This may be one of only a dozen P. Nicolas signed vases known in existence so I don’t need to tell you its rare. It also perfectly depicts the transition of Art Nouveau into Art Deco design. This precious vase will not last long!
Perfect condition!
