Description
This rare and important early Daum Nancy vase has it all and then some and then some and then some. The enamel work is exquisite! The photos do not do the vase justice, circa 1890; this Iridescent green and opalescent glass vase is acid etched with Daum’s signature ice texture on the background, then add exquisite hand-carved wheel-engraving of vines, flowers and buds Poppies, (Thistles and Lilies). On top of all that apply master level enamel work making this an outstanding example of Daum’s work. Note the artist’s expression of the carved flower breaking up the enamel pattern in the front to make the viewer break his pattern of only admiring the enamel forced to admire the carving (absolutely genius) This vase is the best quality. Nice big size at 13.75 Inches; this vase oozes Art Nouveau design.
