Tiffany Favrile Arabian lamp. Art Nouveau, circa 1910

Tiffany Arabian lamp has blown glass, shade and base. Shade is decorated with a gold iridescent zipper design against a wave silver and yellow background. Top of shade is further decorated with three applied gold iridescent prunts. Base has the same gold iridescent wave lines and zipper pattern on the foot. Pattern becomes less distinct on the stem which is also decorated with applied gold iridescent prunts and silver rings.

Shade is signed on interior “L.C.T. Favrile” and base is signed on underside “L.C. Tiffany Favrile”.

Size: Shade is 7 dia. Lamp is 14 t. New York, NY Favrile glass

Condition: Beautifully matched base and shade in excellent original condition. Lamp works well.

Louis Comfort Tiffany (February 18, 1848-January 17, 1933) was an American artist and designer who worked in the decorative arts and is best known for his work in stained glass. He is the American artist most associated with the Art Nouveau and Aesthetic movements. He was affiliated with a prestigious collaborative of designers known as the Associated Artists, which included Lockwood De Forest, Candace Wheeler, and Samuel Colman. Tiffany designed stained glass windows and lamps, glass mosaics, blown glass, ceramics, jewelry, enamels, and metalwork. He was the first design director at his family company, Tiffany & Co., founded by his father Charles Lewis Tiffany.
